Tallwater

What is Tallwater

  • What does Tallwater actually do?

Tallwater builds and maintains operations infrastructure for small businesses — primarily in the trades, property management, marine, and hospitality sectors. That means CRM systems, automated workflows, lead management, voice and SMS systems, AI-powered tools, and custom reporting.

We work on a monthly retainer model, not a project basis. We build your initial systems, then stay engaged to keep them running, maintain them as your business changes, and continue adding improvements over time. Think of us as the operations and technology department your business never had the budget to hire.

  • Who is Tallwater for?

We work best with businesses in the $300k–$3M revenue range with 2–15 employees. Our typical clients are excellent at what they do — plumbing, electrical, HVAC, property management, marina operations, general contracting — and want their back office to reflect the quality of their frontline work.

If you're a solo operator just getting started, or a large enterprise with an internal IT team, we're probably not the right fit. If you're somewhere in between and still running on spreadsheets, text threads, and gut instinct, we probably are.

  • Where is Tallwater based?

We're based in Belfast, Maine, on the Midcoast. Most of our clients are in coastal Maine, but we work with businesses elsewhere in New England and nationally when the fit is right. Geography rarely matters for what we do — the work is primarily digital.

  • Is Tallwater a software product or a service?

It's a service. We don't sell software — we build, configure, and maintain systems using best-in-class tools (GoHighLevel, n8n, Twilio, Claude API, Supabase). You don't pay per seat or per user. You pay a flat monthly retainer for an ongoing operations partnership.

  • What industries do you work with?

    Our primary verticals are:

    • Trades — plumbing, electrical, HVAC, general contractors, landscaping
    • Property management — residential and seasonal rental portfolios
    • Marine and boatyard operations — marinas, charter services, boat repair
    • Hospitality — inns, vacation rentals, small hotels

We also work with other service businesses (professional services, healthcare-adjacent, local retail) when the operational fit is clear.

  • What does "fractional CTO" mean in practice?

A fractional CTO is an experienced technical operations lead who works with your business on a part-time basis rather than as a full-time hire. For a small business, this means you get the technical depth and strategic thinking of someone who would cost $150k+/year as a full-time hire — at a fraction of that cost, scaled to what your business actually needs.

In practice: we handle all technical and operational infrastructure decisions. You don't need to evaluate software tools, configure automations, or troubleshoot integrations. That's our job.
